UGL CHAMPIONSHIP 2012 TEASER

This originally was a little exercise for working a bit more in depth with Motion 4, but I ended up using most of my time trying to get the score right.

This teaser was released as episode #50 of the Uni-Golfteam Lüneburg Podcast (iTunes) in March 2012. I created the complete video.

SHOOTING UNI-GOLFTEAM LÜNEBURG PODCAST EPISODE #51

This was such a great day on a race track close to Lüneburg, Germany. We came up with an idea how to use this venue for a golf-related story. We sure had a lot of fun and the footage looks very good. However, there is some other work ahead, so this may sit on the desk for a few weeks.

(Yeah, and the quest for a good score will probably also add a day or two.)

TRAILER 2012

„Guys, hang in there! Because after every long, cold and dark winter there is always a lot. Of. Golf.“

Since winter is probably the toughest time of year for collegiate golfers (at least here in the middle of Europe, since the weather is really, really against it), I decided to brighten up the mood a little by making a trailer for the 2012 season.

The material was shot during several events including the Student Masters 2009, 2010 and 2011, the Moritz Golf Cup 2011, the Studentenmeisterschaften 2011 and a Campus-Golf session in 2010.

This trailer was released as episode #48 of the Uni-Golfteam Lüneburg Podcast (iTunes) in January 2012. I shot and edited the episode and also did the score after 00:40.

WHY DO PEOPLE CONSUME CORPORATE PODCASTS?
That was the main question I pursued in my master’s thesis (Magisterarbeit) at the Leuphana University Lüneburg.
It was quite a challenge to get it answered, since corporate audio or video is still a niche in Germany, especially in a serialized form. The next step was to find people who actually consume these programs (e.g. BMW TV, Audi TV, Adobe Creative Suite Podcast etc.) on a regular basis and sit down for an interview with them.
The results of this endeavor were quite comprehensive. The motives found were a) to be entertained, b) to support ones identity, c) to enable integration and d) to receive information. However, these motives were always informed by a very articulated relation to the respective brand. Interviewees considered it to be for example a trustworthy specialist for related topics (e.g. Audi for motorsport, Ralph Lauren for lifestyle), a professional for quality content (e.g. BMW for premium visuals, Adobe for sound knowledge) or a role model for advanced processes (e.g. Audi for making an ad, Apple for giving a presentation).
So the very brief answer to the original question „Why do people consume corporate podcasts?“ would be „Because those podcasts are very good.“ The extended answer and the way how I got to it rendered this master’s thesis a 1,3 (very good).

DAS RENNEN DER FAHRGEMEINSCHAFTEN

We shot this episode in May 2011 on our way to the Moritz Golf Cup, an annual collegiate golf tournament close to Greifswald. However, since I really had to work on my master’s thesis during the summer, it took some months to finally finish editing the (rather complex) footage from that day.

The basic idea was to race two cars to the tournament and back and see who consumed the least fuel. Spoiler alert: it was the Golf. But only just.

This podcast episode was released in September 2011. I shot and edited the episode, a second camera was operated in the Golf.

MOTIVE ZUR NUTZUNG VON UNTERNEHMENSPODCASTS
This, roughly translated as motives for the use of corporate podcasts, is my master’s thesis (Magisterarbeit) here at the Leuphana University Lüneburg. The basic question is why do people tune into corporate podcasts from e.g. Audi, Mercedes-Benz or Adobe?
The picture minus the red text is the notice I put up on campus and on my website to find people who actually use corporate podcasts. Trust me, there are a few – and some of them got in touch with me.
On the one hand I am really into the topic and very interested in the results, on the other hand working on this pretty much leaves no time for filming anything. (Yeah, not even the Student Masters 2011.)
Well, let’s do this and pick up the filming after it.

STUDENT MASTERS 2011 TRAILER A

The golf footage is taken from the Student Masters 2010 and 2009 with additional material shot in the largest lecture hall the Leuphana University Lüneburg has to offer. Again, this is a trailer for our annual collegiate golf tournament here in Lüneburg, the Student Masters.

The trailer was released in April 2010. I shot and edited the film.

PLATZREIFEKURS SCHLOSS LÜDERSBURG

I shot and edited this film for Schloss Lüdersburg, a golf course (2 x 18 holes) close to Lüneburg.

The object was to create a film that (a) documents a basic training course and (b) shows that golf is in fact quite an accessible and relaxed sport – something that still is new to quite a few people in Germany.

The film was first published by Schloss Lüdersburg in August 2010. I conceived, shot and edited the film.

STUDENT MASTERS 2010 ZUSAMMENFASSUNG

This is the first roundup of the Student Masters that was published as part of the Uni-Golfteam Lüneburg Podcast. The tournaments from 2005 to 2009 got a roundup that was only published on DVD.

This podcast episode was released in August 2010. I shot and edited the episode.

ALEX NORÉN JUNIOR OPEN 2010

This tournament was held at Haninge GK south of Stockholm, Sweden and it is strongly supported by European Tour Professional Alexander Norén.

The object was to document the tournament, show as many (happy) players as possible and give a little background information about the event and Alexander Noréns involvement in it.

The film was published by Alexander Norén in July 2010. I conceived, shot and edited this film.

STUDENT MASTERS 2010 TRAILER A

This is the first trailer for the 2010 edition of our annual collegiate golf tournament here in Lüneburg, the Student Masters.

The room in the beginning is an actual seminar room at the Leuphana University Lüneburg. In fact, it is the very room where the players will stay during the tournament. Well, unless they throw some cash at a hotel (which, by the way, isn’t half the fun).

The trailer was released in May 2010. The footage is taken from the Student Masters 2009. I shot and edited the trailer.

DER ZWEITE PLATZ

This really is one of my favourite podcast episodes. We got very good feedback for it (obviously, some people really were entertained by it), shooting it was huge fun and everyone involved had a very good time doing this.

The idea was to leave the golf course in the winter (it’s really too cold for golf during January, February) and try out some other sports. We ended up with floorball, shooting and this weird thing called gymwheel.

This podcast episode was released in March 2010. I shot and edited the episode.

KULTURKONTAKTE-PREIS 2009: HÖRMAHL

The Kulturkontakte-Preis is a prize awarded for regional companies that culturally support the community, e.g. by setting up an event like Hörmahl, a genuine combination of quality food and play reading.

Since Hörmahl was one of the winning projects, the audience of the award ceremony should be introduced to the project by this short film. Object was to introduce the company and the event and to address the motives that led to this kind of community support.

The film was shown during the award ceremony in November 2009. I conceived, shot and edited the film.

STUDENT MASTERS 2009 TRAILER B

This is the second trailer for our annual collegiate golf tournament here in Lüneburg, the Student Masters.

The trailer was released in March 2009. The footage is taken from the Student Masters 2008. I shot and edited the trailer.

STUDENT MASTERS 2009 TRAILER A

This is the first trailer for the 2009 edition of our annual collegiate golf tournament here in Lüneburg, the Student Masters. The text documents regular activities on a regular day as a regular student (falling asleep during a seminar, trying to focus on writing a paper), the images show what we as collegiate golfers think about the whole day.

The trailer was released in December 2008. The footage is taken from the Student Masters 2008. I shot and edited the trailer.
