STUDENT MASTERS 2012: PART FOUR
Fingers crossed I get to part six before the 19th edition of this tournament begins on June 10, 2013.
Creative credits for the idea with the chat on screen go to Sherlock (where I first saw this) and House of Cards (where I saw this again). I am thrilled I found a nice spot for something similar in this episode. I actually did message Benjamin because I did not have the score, so that chat really happened. Then I thought, hey, why not use this to brush up the episode a bit, and I am absolutely delighted with the result.
The tournament opened the 2013 edition of the Unigolftour close to Cologne. I played, made some points (don’t ask) and took the pictures after that. Honestly, there are some pictures in here that I really, really like. Take a look.
Instead of the usual happy faces, a lot of golf and some pumping music I tried to tap into this awkward feeling you have during the winter. You simply can’t play, it’s way too dark, nothing really makes sense (for a golfer). I took this and added a bit of hope at the end, promising that there will be golf again. We all know that, but being reassured is still a nice thing.
The text reflects the issue that we golfers are still a minority. The basic message is: Don’t let this fact fool you, go and play golf, the others will follow – as soon as they get a chance to try this amazing sport. (Okay, so the last bit of that sentence is my very personal hope, but hey, who says it’s not a personal teaser as well?)
Another long pause, but another joyous session editing.
This is the third of six episodes covering the Student Masters, one of the biggest collegiate golf tournaments in Germany.
Actually, I am finishing these episodes in such a pace, the registration process for the next edition of the Student Masters is already about to begin. Fingers crossed I have all episodes published before I will enjoy returning to beautiful Schloss Lüdersburg to shoot the 19th edition of this event in early June (check studentmasters.de for details).
The reason for those mind-boggling gaps between the episodes is my internship turning into a proper job. Yeah, it’s full-time for the German Golf Association since October. Loving it, but loving this as well. Good times.
This film was released as episode #57 of the Uni-Golfteam Lüneburg Podcast (iTunes) in January 2013. I shot and edited the video and also came up with some of the music.
Finally some video! Man, I was missing Final Cut so much. Happy to be back again.
So this was released as episode 56 of the Uni-Golfteam Lüneburg Podcast. The trailer I introduce was put on 1.800 USB sticks, that were given out to the students who started their studies at the Leuphana university Lüneburg this autumn. Fingers crossed that it wasn’t immediately replaced by some por… sorry, research papers and study folders.
Had so much fun with the material from the Student Masters, I really want to edit the remaining four episodes that deal with the tournament. Also waiting are footage from the Humboldt-Golfturnier, a Unigolftour-tournament in Berlin, and the Studentenmeisterschaft (photos below), the final tournament for the Unigolftour 2012 in Chemnitz. Fingers crossed that I can take some time for these projects soon.
This was the final tournament of the Unigolftour this season, and again I was there both playing and taking some pictures. (You didn’t ask about the playing, did you? Very well. Thank you.) A few more are in this article, many more in this article.
And you are absolutely right, that familiar face there is the incredible Bettina Hauert, part of the Solheim Cup team in 2007. She accompanied the group who won the Beat the Pro competition right before the tournament kicked off. Spoiler Alert, it was not my group :-)
I can’t repeat often enough how much fun this is, especially when all the players are having some fun with the camera.
Once again I left the video camera in the shelf and took some still pictures instead. I’d love to do more video, but at the moment my job – yes, something with golf – is taking up too much time. So I cut the editing process and instead improve my sorting skills.
This tournament was, again, part of the Unigolftour and took place on September 27–28, 2012. (Confidential note on the side: I played so bad, it’s not even funny. But whatever, it was a fantastic time out there, both playing and taking photos. Love this!)
Taken just a day before the pictures of the German Championship for golfers with a handicap 2012 (see below) but published a few days later, here are some of the best pictures of the Domstadt Open 2012, a tournament that is part of the Unigolftour.
This was my first time providing up-to-date tournament coverage for the German Golf Association, including all the 180 pictures that are linked with this article from Sunday (final round) and the article from Saturday (first round).
This is one of my first pieces I wrote for the German Golf Association. It covers the Schüco Open 2012 from the perspective of three leading amateur players who were invited by Schüco to play the tournament together with professionals like Bubba Watson, Ian Poulter and winner of the tournament Henrik Stenson.
Summarizing the five year cooperation with Jaguar and Land Rover dealer Hugo Pfohe in a video was my way to say thanks a lot for the great support to the company.
The early footage dates back to February 2008, when I still used a 4:3-ratio. Seems like ages ago, though.
This is a nine minute summary of the first tournament of the Unigolftour 2012.
I played in the first group and then grabbed the camera to capture some footage on the course. No, I didn’t win anything. Yes, except the footage I captured on the course.
The idea was to add an entertaining contribution to the everlasting discussion about the speed of play – which is in fact an issue in golf, both amateur and professional.
So this is what we came up with, and it sure was loads of fun shooting this.
This film was released as episode #51 of the Uni-Golfteam Lüneburg Podcast (iTunes) in May 2012. I conceived, shot, edited and scored the complete video.
